Programmes and projects in Costa Rica

GTZ is implementing the following programmes and projects in Costa Rica:

Urban industrial environmental protection

  • Promote competitiveness and environmental protection
    • local and communal development in Costa Rica (PRODELO)
    • sustainable management of natural resources in the ACOSA region, Costa Rica (PRO-OSA)
    • PPP project with the cement manufacturer HOLCIM for a better understanding of co-processing as part of integrated waste management.

Other ongoing projects

  • MOPT-KfW/GTZ programme for maintenance of the cantonal road network
  • PPP project with Chiquita: "Nogal Nature and Community Project" to conserve the biological diversity, to stimulate the people's sensitivity for nature conservation and to create new employment and income opportunities

Multi-country projects

  • PPP project with the German Wholesale and Foreign Trade Association (BGA) to support the export of ecological agrarian and natural products (in cooperation with Peru and Ecuador).
