Priority areas in Honduras

The primary objectives of cooperation between the Government of Honduras and the Federal Republic of Germany are poverty reduction and the promotion of sustainable development. GTZ works in three priority areas in Honduras:

• basic education
• environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources 
• sustainable economic development

In all priority areas there is close cooperation and coordination with other major German institutions and intensive cooperation with the international donor community generally. There is programme-oriented joint financing in the field of basic education. Technical Cooperation accompanies this basket financing, which is provided by German Financial Cooperation and other donors, with direct advisory services to the Honduran Ministry of Education.

In the priority area environmental protection and sustainable use of natural resources, the Government of the Netherlands makes a contribution to the field of energy supply and energy efficiency through joint financing within the framework of the German Development Cooperation programme.
