Priority areas in Viet Nam

GTZ has been supporting Viet Nam in solving its development problems since 1993. More than 20 sustainable development projects and programmes are currently underway in a variety of sectors. The priority areas in Viet Nam are

  • Environmental policy and the protection and sustainable use of natural resources
  • Sustainable economic development
  • Health.

GTZ is also contributing to Viet Nam's development through additional projects and initiatives in other selected sectors. The project ‘Support for Poverty Reduction’ is advising the Vietnamese Government on reforming its social protection system and drawing up national poverty reduction programmes for the country’s poorest provinces and severely disadvantaged population groups.

GTZ is working with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) on a project to alleviate poverty in rural provinces that will promote local development planning and market-oriented agriculture, improve the provision of relevant training and boost the local investment climate.

GTZ has set up development partnerships with the private sector to encourage local economic development and the formation of international relations in key sectors. Together with other donors, such as the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), it is also involved in a number of co-financed projects.
