Sector Network Governance Asia

Governance Asia is a regional professional network that enables GIZ experts to share information and experience in the field of governance and democracy. It covers partner countries in South Asia, South-East and East Asia. The sector network aims at assuring and improving the effectiveness and quality of GIZ’s cooperation in Asia. It contributes to the further improvement of GIZ products in this field and cooperates with similar networks in other continents.

The network’s activities focus on the following thematic areas:

  • Decentralization and Local Governance
  • Urban Development
  • Conflict Transformation and Peace Building
  • State Reform, Public Policy and Sector Governance.

The sector network was established in Jakarta in November 2006. General sector network meetings took place in Bangkok (October 2007), Kathmandu (June 2009) and Siem Reap (October 2010). GIZ’s corporate policy on sector networks guides the sector network and determines its structures and working mechanisms. The Rules of Business describe the internal working arrangement of the sector network.

Below you will find details of the themes addressed by the sector network, our working methods, links to reports and publications, and the current composition of the network’s Steering Group.
