Sector Network Natural Resources & Rural Development Asia

SNRD Asia Plenary Meeting 2011 / Bangkok, Thailand

The SNRD Asia – Sector Network Natural Resources & Rural Development Asia was founded in the mid-1980s and links more than 80 projects and programmes in 23 countries in Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia and Caucasus. It currently has 150 members, including GIZ staff, integrated experts, and staff of consultancy firms.

The Network offers a platform for sharing expertise and for content-related cooperation between experts based in partner countries and at GIZ Head Office. We translate global issues into effective action on the ground.

Our work is coordinated by a steering group. Its spokesman is currently Hans-Joachim Lipp, who is based in Lao PDR. The technical and strategic work is performed by regional and thematic working groups. The Network currently has these working groups:

  • The Mekong Group +
  • Reduce Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD+)
  • Adaptation to Climate Change
  • Linking Producer Groups to Markets (LPGM)
  • Biodiversity and Climate Change
  • Coastal Zone Management
  • Agricultural Trade and Standards
