To increase the impact, efficiency and speed of reforms, GTZ in Cambodia cooperates with other donors in alliances and joint programmes. After negotiations with the German and Cambodian Governments, the following priority areas were agreed upon:
- Rural development
Cambodian-German cooperation supports rural development through regional concentration in a framework of integrated approaches. In addition to the regional development in Kampot and Kampong Thom provinces, GTZ is a main actor in the Land Management Project. In addition, the government is advised in the field of nutrition.
- Health, Social security
The objectives of the Cambodian Government in the field of social security and health are laid out in the Strategic Framework for Health Financing 2008 – 2015 and in the Health Strategic Plan 2008-2015 (HSP2). The objectives are to achieve universal coverage of social services, to improve reproductive health and to tackle specific diseases. GTZ supports the plan with measures to promote social services and quality management, and with specialised training for health personnel.
Democracy, civil society and public administration form a cross-cutting theme that must be taken into account by all projects. At the same time, GTZ is also running three other projects directly related to good governance: Promotion of Women's Rights, Support for Administrative Reform and Decentralisation and Support for the National Audit Authority.
