Partnerships and alliances in Lesotho

Centre for International Migration and Development (CIM)

As part of its joint operations with CIM, GTZ works together with the German Federal Employment Agency to place highly qualified experts and management staff with employers in Lesotho. Their experts are supporting the Ministry for Public Services in the establishment of a centre for personnel selection and development. They are also providing policy advice to other relevant ministries, such as the Forestry Ministry, and to non-governmental organisations, with respect to their roles as decentralised service providers.

Other partnerships and alliances

To ensure optimum project implementation, GTZ is responsible for coordinating German development cooperation in Lesotho and works closely with other German institutions:
  • German Development Service (DED)
  • KfW Entwicklungsbank

Cooperation with other institutions

As an international cooperation organisation, GTZ applies the principles set out in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, and efficient donor coordination has now been achieved in Lesotho. GTZ is also coordinating between  the European Union and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the field of decentralisation. Collectively with the European and multilateral donors, GTZ supports the efforts of the Government of Lesotho to improve  public services as part of its Service Delivery Agenda. There is also close cooperation with the World Bank on the issue of HIV/AIDS.
