Over the past decade, a lack of funding and significant deficits in terms of healthcare administration have caused health indicators in Cameroon to deteriorate. In order to reach its poverty reduction targets, Cameroon’s Government is therefore giving highest priority to the health sector. German Development Cooperation supports Cameroon’s health sector strategy in selected areas.

Maximum impact is to be achieved throught a multi-step approach at various levels in the health sector, the involvement of private actors, and close coordination with the instruments of German-Cameroonian Development Cooperation. To ensure that GTZ’s activities complement other donors’ measures, their regional and thematic scope has been carefully defined.
