Within the framework of the cooperation between Germany and Côte d’Ivoire, GTZ is supporting a holistic and sustainable approach to peaceful post-conflict reconstruction.

Concrete points of focus in providing this support are:

• Rural forest management and nature conservation in the eastern regions.
• Crisis prevention and peace keeping in the south-west of the country.
• The combat against child trafficking and the worst forms of child labour.

In addition, combating HIV/ AIDS will also be further developed as a cross-cutting theme. In several projects some activities will be carried out in cooperation with the private sector.

The projects in the area of health and education were successfully completed in 2007.
