In the field of African Studies, development-cooperation projects and university research often exist side by side without ever establishing a link with each other. Systematic transfers of research findings to partner countries or partner institutions simply do not take place. GTZ work primarily focuses on practical development-related goals. Scientific work, however, is geared to basic and empirical research. GTZ thus wishes to systematise its intermittent cooperation with Germany-based African Research Centres actively involved in the areas of regional science, economics, politics and ethnology. The aim is to generate synergies between research and practice which are then harnessed for the benefit of both sides.

Possible forms of exchange include thematic discussions, workshops, expert discussions and “customised” dialogue with individual institutions and departments. If you are interested in collaboration, please contact us.
