Priority areas in Angola

Angolanische Frauen bei der Erwachsenenbildung in der Provinz Uìge

With a population of only around 12.1 million and impressive natural resources, Angola has the prerequisites for a successful national reconstruction. It owes its current high economic growth rate in large part to the mineral oil sector. Rehabilitation of the infrastructure and agricultural production are gaining in importance. With regard to development prospects, great efforts are needed to eliminate the present inequities, for only in this way can the population benefit from sustainable development. Angola is counting on continued international cooperation in carrying out these tasks.

Within the scope of cooperation between Germany and Angola, GTZ supports a sustainable holistic approach to the crisis-preventing reconstruction of this post-war society.

Specific points of support include:

  • Rehabilitation of physically disabled persons
  • Reintegration of ex-combatants and local development
  • Development-oriented emergency aid (food security, Uige province)
