Evaluation

Working on sustainable results. Evaluation at GTZ.

At GTZ, systematically reviewing the success of our operations is an integral part of our work. It serves the purpose of meeting our accountability obligations to our clients and the public, provides information for managing development measures and supports individual and institutional learning.

In the public-benefit sector, GTZ’s evaluation system comprises decentralised and independent evaluations. These instruments enable us to meet a range of objectives. In our evaluations, we examine the goal achievement, relevance and cost-effectiveness of development measures, their impact (overarching development results) and their sustainability.

In so doing, we follow the evaluation criteria and principles of the OECD Development Assistance Committee (OECD/DAC). In accordance with the principle of independence, the GTZ Evaluation Unit is clearly separated from the operative departments, and reports directly to the Office of the Managing Directors.
