Staff safety and securityDue to business development trends and the requirements of its various clients, GTZ increasingly finds itself working in countries and regions in which the political or economic frameworks are unstable, environmental conditions are difficult and infrastructure is poor. This gives rise to increased safety and security risks for employees working on assignments abroad. GTZ has a particular duty to ensure the safety and security of staff and their families in foreign countries, and this is central to securing the company’s future operations. GTZ sets store in preventive risk-avoidance measures. Depending on the potential dangers in the country of assignment and project region, this preventive approach includes regular risk analyses and assessments, and security instructions for staff members. In high-risk countries, such as Afghanistan, there are full-time security advisors and round-the-clock security offices. A professional crisis management team steps in should an acute crisis develop. All preventive and crisis-support measures are based on a company-wide and binding policy on the safety and security of personnel on foreign assignments (Personelle Sicherheit im Auslandseinsatz – currently available in German only). |
