National cooperations and international partnerships

As a company with worldwide operations, GTZ recognises the importance of partnerships, cooperation arrangements, alliances and networks with national, European and international organisations and institutions involved in development cooperation. Managing and maintaining these cooperation arrangements is part and parcel of its work. In this way, GTZ, as a federally owned international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development, aims to make a coherent, efficient and effective contribution toward achieving the German Government's objectives for German and international development policy.

The national and international organisations with which GTZ cooperates have a wide range of functions and pursue different objectives. This is reflected in the diverse nature of its work with individual cooperation partners.

At national level, GTZ enhances the coherence and effectiveness of German development cooperation projects, programmes and measures. It joins with other governmental and non-governmental actors to establish new themes and fields of activity, and it works with these actors to raise awareness of the importance of development cooperation among the German public.

At international level, GTZ supports German and European standpoints, leverages innovative potential through the joint development of ideas and themes, promotes dialogue with representatives of partner organisations, and underpins the reputation of German development cooperation.
