Good Governance - state and society shaping development
The Eschborn Dialogue on the theme “Good governance – state and society shaping development” was held on 15-16 June 2004.
International cooperation is never apolitical, but no other topic comes as close to the machinery of power as good governance. Good governance – responsible use of state power and public resources – is a key prerequisite for sustainable development. It is possible where the rule of law and other political conditions favouring development prevail, where involvement by civil society is encouraged, and where there are capable public institutions. GTZ is currently supporting political reform processes in over 30 partner countries. Good governance is a key field of action in international cooperation.
Various aspects of good governance were highlighted in numerous events.
