In Benin the inadequate supply of drinking water is endangering the lives of men, women and children. Along with the local authorities, GTZ has developed suitable strategies for ensuring a sustainable water supply for the population, as well as improving sewage and sanitation facilities.

Clean Energy for Uganda
In Uganda, only three percent of the rural population are connected to a local electricity grid. Use of modern electrical appliances is therefore very restricted. This has dire consequences in relation to food preparation – entire forests are cleared for fuelwood, and women and children suffer from the concentration of smoke which builds up in the huts from traditional cooking.
