Water
Water has many uses: it is a nutrient, an economic good and a key factor of production. It is also a social good: rivers, groundwater and ecosystems connect people. However, water is not an inexhaustible resource. Only around 0.014 percent of the world's water is fresh water. This is all that is available to meet many different and often competing needs. Moreover, as a natural resource, water cannot be produced artificially, and the volume of fresh water on earth cannot be augmented.
