Climate Conference

Staff of the Climate Protection Programme are members of the German delegation at the biannual meetings of the Climate Change Convention.

The meetings offer the opportunity to engage in dialogue and coordinate activities with German and international partners, not only during the official negotiations but also at side events and informal meetings. Participating institutions include multilateral development organisations (World Bank, UNDP, UNEP, GEF, OECD), bilateral development agencies from EU countries, and partners from developing countries.

• VARG - Vulnerability and Adaptation Resource Group
  VARG is an informal network of bi- and multilateral institutions whose mission is to facilitate the integration of climate change adaptation in the development process.

• ECBI – European Capacity Building Initiative
  The ECBI aims to establish a platform for representatives of European and developing countries in relation to international climate policy and thus facilitate mutual understanding and trust.

• Working Group on Emissions Trading
  The Climate Protection Programme participates in this Working Group, set up by the Federal Environment Ministry, in order to develop the project-based mechanisms established under the Kyoto Protocol, especially the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). For further information, please visit:
