Asia

At the beginning of 2008 about 15,200 MW of wind generating capacity was installed in Asia (out of a global figure of 93,900 MW). A large part of this is shared between India (approx. 7,800 MW) and China (approx. 5,900 MW), but the use of wind energy is also gathering pace in Japan (around 1,500 MW). By providing consultancy services on the shaping of a law on renewable energy in China, GIZ (former GTZ) has played a part in establishing a sound basis for the further expansion of wind energy.

In many other regions of Asia, too, there are opportunities for making economically efficient use of wind energy.

Further information on the various TERNA country projects in Asia can be found via the menu on the left.
