Within GIZ, the field of HIV/AIDS is covered by two advisory projects, AIDS Control in Developing Countries and Disease Control and Health Promotion. The ACCA regional project is focused on workplace programs. Under the head of the HIV/AIDS section of the Health Division, all projects work together with the aim of constantly improving the quality of GIZ's support in the field.

Apart from these projects, the GIZ BACKUP Initiative provides technical assistance to support country applications to international donor agencies such as the Global Fund and to strengthen capacities in this respect. It also finances personnel secondments to international organizations.

There are further GIZ divisions, programs and projects that work with the private sector in a predominantly economic and political dimension. The Social and Ecological Standards project and the activity area Economic Reform and Market Development (Wirtschaftsreform und Aufbau der Marktwirtschaft (WIRAM)) are particularly interested in including an HIV/AIDS perspective into their work. The same applies to the Advisory Services for Private Businesses (ASPB) project, which works in the Southern African Development Cooperation (SADC) region.
