GenderWomen and men face different realities and have different needs. We need to consider these different needs in order to work successfully. It is an integral part of our corporate values and a quality characteristic of our work to ensure consequent efforts for women´s and men´s equal enjoyment of opportunities are. Through strengthening equal power relations between men and women, structural causes of social and political instability can be addressed, violent conflicts can be avoided and poverty reduction is more effectively. Women and men should have equal access to project services and should be able to participate equally in the project design and development. Our projects target systematically several levels in order to establish good structures and framework conditions for gender equality. Since 2001, GIZ (former GTZ) has a cooperate Gender Strategy to promote gender equality. The third revised across-the-board Gender Strategy was adopted in March 2010. The objective of the strategy is to ensure that women and men benefit equally from the development inputs of technical cooperation and that they can play an equal and active part in shaping these inputs. Therefore, our projects are designed to achieve positive impacts on gender equality. Please visit the following pages for further information about GIZ's work:
