The Federal Republic of Germany has been cooperating with numerous developing countries in the field of drug control since 1981. Cooperation has not been solely confined to governments. Cooperation with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) is on the rise and becoming more and more important.
In addition, GIZ (former GTZ) and the DDC aim for cooperation with German, national and international partners with the aim of
- jointly developing concepts and strategies
- coordinating and more effectively implementing activities at the operational level.
Currently, the DDC has cooperation agreements with the following organisations:
-
United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)
This UN Agency is one of the most important bodies in the fight against drugs and international crime at the global level. Currently, a formal cooperation with UNODC is being developed; mutual areas of work have been identified in the areas of drugs and HIV/AIDS, alternative development and drugs and conflict.
