GTZ at Reisepavillon 2010

For the past 19 years the Reisepavillon represented an international fair on sustainable tourism. It included exhibitions by tour operators, tourism destinations, environmental protection organisations and provided opportunities for events. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, the Reisepavillon was presented in new shape. It focused on the congress function with presentations, workshops, panel discussions etc. Other components of the Reisepavillon 2010 were general meetings of organisations and institutions, and there was stilll an opportunity to place information stands in a public area.

In order to allow the public a closer look at activities of tourism-related development cooperation, GTZ has been an exhibitor at Reisepavillon for many years. To further the dialogue with experts on tourism and sustainable development and to initiate and enhance cooperation with the private sector, GTZ regularly organises the Tourism Forum International (TFI). This year, the TFI focused on the following issues:

  • World Heritage and Tourism: Chances for Sustainable Development
Cooperation partners: Common Wadden Sea Secretariat and Reisepavillon

  • Destination Development as Consultancy Work: Content and Quality Demand, International Experiences
Cooperation partner: German Association for Applied Geography (DVAG)

  • Fishing – Experience in Nature: Tourism Product for Sustainable Development, Cooperation partner: HU Berlin (Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture)

The TFI is intended to be a professional discussion platform on current international tourism issues in the context of sustainable development. It is directed at tourism practitioners and experts as well as the interested public. Furthermore it supports the market development of environmentally friendly and socially fair tourism products.
