Title page brochure: Tourism as Field of Activity in German Development Cooperation

Tourism as Field of Activity in German Development Cooperation
A Basic Overview, Priority Areas for Action and Strategic Recommendations, by Matthias Beyer, Nicole Häusler, Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Strasdas (Fachhochschule Eberswalde). Approx. 60 pages with tables and illustrations, GTZ, Eschborn 2007.

Tourism in developing countries — what are the current facts and trends? How do the various development organisations promote tourism? Is commitment to tourism in developing countries compatible with the goals of German development cooperation?

The authors of the survey explore these issues. They analyse the activities of development organisations to date and identify future potentials for promoting tourism. The survey concludes with detailed suggestions for strategies and actions.

The survey was commissioned by GTZ and realised at the Master's Programme for Sustainable Tourism at the Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences) Eberswalde, in close cooperation with the "Task Team Tourism" (see Tourism in Detail / Cooperation). It was published in German in January 2007, the English translation followed in September 2007.
