For years, GIZ (former GTZ) has maintained a booth at the German tourism trade fairs – the International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin and the Reisepavillon in Hanover.

As part of the "Reisepavillon – International Trade Fair for Alternative Travel", GIZ (former GTZ) organised from 2002 to 2005 a special event, the Tourism Forum International (TFI). GIZ invited travel agents from partner countries and organised training workshops to assist with the marketing of tourism products. Opportunity was provided for presentations (TFI stage), networking and client acquisition. A conference on current topics and public panel debates rounded off the programme. In 2009 at the 19th Reisepavillon in Munich, GIZ renewed this effort and organised the Forum Tourism and Development (Forum T+D). In 2010 at the Reisepavillon in Berlin, the tradition was continued under the old name Tourism Forum International (TFI).

Since 2004, GIZ (former GTZ) has also participated in the World Travel Market in London.
