Approach

A health staff meeting © agenda, Hamburg

The Convention Project "Protection of Minors against Sexual Exploitation” is acting on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It supports implementation of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child on sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography in selected partner countries in German development cooperation. In this way it is contributing to international responsibility for protecting children and young people.

The project assists partner countries in amending and applying national laws, information and prevention measures, further training for specialists, appealing to perpetrators, protection and rehabilitation programmes for victims, and networking agencies and organisations. It cooperates with both international partners and German organisations and government agencies.

Promising approaches are evaluated after completion and the experience is disseminated internationally. You can see what measures are already being supported and where in "Results".
