The Public Finance Conference - a forum for specialist discussion on a supra-regional basis

The Public Finance Conference brings together representatives from German and European authorities, development cooperation organisations and GIZ employees under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. The cooperation partners include the German Federal Ministry of Finance, the Ministries of Finance of selected German states, the German Federal Court of Audit and the Courts of Audit of selected German states, together with German implementing organisations working in development cooperation.

The Public Finance Conference has three main aims:

• to promote the exchange of specialist knowledge regarding current international debate on public finance reform between GIZ employees working in this field both in Germany and abroad
• to increase the valorisation of GIZ's experience, particularly outside Gemany
• to intensify GIZ cooperation with German authorities and international institutions that are becoming increasingly important for our consultancy projects.

The Public Finance Conference is an important element in valorising strategies for public finance reform in the development policy context to a greater extent in future. Relevant issues include tax reform structures, transparent defence budgets and the establishment of Courts of Audit in developing countries.
