Human rights and combating trafficking in women

Trafficking in women is a multi-dimensional problem. We explicate the causes and effects of poverty, human trafficking, and labour exploitation in the context of globalization. Our work is guided by the human rights approach, as it emphasizes the rights of those affected. International conventions such as the UN Supplementary Protocol to Prevent, Suppress, and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children or the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings thus constitute our orientation framework.

We help our partner countries adjust their institutional and legal framework conditions to these international commitments and to defend the rights and needs of people.

Our areas of activity are:

  • Supporting prevention and informational campaigns in countries of origin and target countries
  • Sensitizing and training decision-makers and relevant professional groups
  • Educating vulnerable groups about the dangers of trafficking in women
  • Improving human rights standards for the treatment of victims and victim protection measures
  • Supporting the rehabilitation of victims.
