The project has achieved the following main outcomes, which are being applied in practice:

• Reform of rural services: methods and instruments for regional concepts on management of service providers (Anglophone, Francophone Africa), methods of monitoring and financing research and extension, concepts on participatory and conventional extension (Neuchâtel Initiative), methods to develop extension recommendations in commercial agriculture (Good Agricultural Practices).

• Non-formal vocation-oriented continued education: methods and concepts for decentralised training with adult education approaches; rural training networks (West and East Africa).

• Strategic use of media: concepts on media development and communication strategies for programmes in rural areas, e-learning modules for information management (by FAO/WAICENT); design of Internet platforms in South America and East Africa.
