GIZ works closely with all the key players in governmental and non-governmental development cooperation and with scientific and university institutes. The form of collaboration ranges from technical advice to the provision of financial grants for individual measures.

Initiated together with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV), the Working Group on Global Food Security is a forum for the regular exchange of information and for coordinating joint measures to realise the right to food and promote global food security.
