ApproachThrough our work we aim to efficiently mainstream pro-poor and conflict-sensitive approaches to land policy and administration in development cooperation and thus also in our partner countries’ policies. To achieve this objective, GIZ engages at the international level, in Germany and in its partner countries directly. Fair access to land is a key tenet guiding our work and one that applies most especially to more disadvantaged groups, such as women and indigenous peoples. The range of topics GIZ deals with goes from land policy and legal counselling to land administration, land reform and land-use planning. GIZ designs site-appropriate concepts which it makes available to German and international development cooperation projects and to the professional public, piloting them in close cooperation with its partners. Above all, implementing measures in partner countries requires consultancy and practice-oriented training. For this reason, GIZ designs and helps implement training inputs and curricula for experts on land policy and administration. Networking and engaging in close exchanges with actors in international and German committees are also key activities that help shape positions on land policy and administration issues. Our task here is to compile and roll out suitable guidelines, conventions and declarations. |
