Various national, European and international forums in which BEAF is active help steer the research agendas of CGIAR and the international agricultural research centres it supports.

• Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR)
  The GFAR brings together representatives of national and international agricultural research institutes, governments, foundations, NGOs, farming organisations and the private sector in joint efforts to combat poverty, conserve resources and secure food supply. In 2000, the GFAR met in Dresden at the invitation of the German Federal Government.

• European Initiative for Agricultural Research for Development (EIARD)
  The European donors are grouped in the European Initiative for Agricultural Research for Development (EIARD), in which BEAF takes an active part on behalf of BMZ. The members use the platform of the European Forum (see below) to exchange information, coordinate assistance activities and specify priorities.
