ResultsGIZ engages in countless projects around the globe. It is here that the results of our work become tangible. Climate is not merely a matter of environmental protection – it is essential to take account of the economic concerns of countries at the same time. This will be the only way to achieve sustainable development that is as CO2-neutral as possible!
Local and regional concerns GIZ has many years of experience in cooperation, is familiar with local conditions and has positive contacts to governments. Projects on the ground need to take account of local and regional concerns and to respect cultures and religions. Only then can cooperation succeed – hand in hand. Regardless of whether a country is very large or very small, each individual has a contribution to make. One important step for the major emerging economies in particular is to decouple their energy and resource consumption from economic growth as far as possible. Adaptation and mitigation Adaptation to climate change helps humankind survive in a changed environment. Mitigation means making an active contribution to the future and managing human environments so that they remain liveable. GIZ does both. It promotes programmes designed to establish renewable energies and helps preserve major carbon sinks. |
