Climate change

Climate change is already happening and is set to change the face of our planet. The extent of the changes and their consequences depend on us and the way we live our lives and run our industries. Only by taking rapid and decisive action to combat the causes of climate change and by drastically reducing global greenhouse gas emissions can we hope to keep in check the worldwide rise in temperature.

Even where climate protection is successful, climate change can no longer be avoided and is already being felt, particularly in the world’s poorest countries. In this respect, industrialised nations have a duty to support adaptation to climate change. As an international cooperation enterprise with worldwide operations, GIZ is aware of its responsibilities. All GIZ projects and programmes are systematically assessed and regularly optimised for climate impact. There are also numerous projects and programmes that directly support climate protection and adaptation in partner countries.
