Developing an economy
Making a living from one's own resourcesSetting up companies, inventing and successfully marketing products, creating jobs, training people – be it on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) or other Federal Ministries and international clients, there are many different in ways in which GTZ assists partner countries to develop a dynamic economy. This includes cooperation with the German private sector, a much sought-after partner in international cooperation when transferring knowledge and experience or introducing modern technology. In this theme pack, we present practical examples that show how GTZ promotes economic development and cooperates with companies so that poor population groups in particular can make a living from their own resources. EU project: We also have a current project for you concerning the management of EU election monitoring missions which GTZ is carrying out on behalf of the European Union. The next assignment begins for GTZ in December when it will start preparing for the February elections in Chad. Staff portraits: All around the globe for GTZ. GTZ has over 1,600 staff (2009) on assignment all over the world to support sustainable development. What motivates these people, how do they live when they are sometimes twelve hours or more away from home by plane? And how they do work with local people? This theme pack contains portraits of Germans working for GTZ in Central America (available for reproduction without charge).
