Knowledge systems for rural areas
"Services can work when poor people stand at the center of service provision." Shanta Devarajan, Director of the World Development Report 2004
Knowledge services for rural areas:
Knowledge is key to economic, social and political development. Rural areas do not only require knowledge for agricultural production. They also need to know about markets, prices, standards, alternative sources of income, organisation, and political reforms. Rural areas are structurally disadvantaged in accessing knowledge. To empower them, they must be provided with knowledge efficiently. The project bundles the experiences of German and international cooperation in research, extension, training and information services and makes the concepts and instruments available through publications, workshops and extension. Under “Further information” you will find the usual download offers as thematic readers, methods/instruments and selected links.
