The activities of GTZ International Services in the People’s Republic of China currently focus on sustainable economic development, environmental policy and energy management.

On behalf of the European Commission GTZ IS is assisting China in its transition process and implementing projects to promote economic reform, sustainable energy use, and forest management. GTZ IS cooperates closely with the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s macroeconomic regulatory and planning body, the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), China’s authority on environmental protection, the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China (MOFCOM), and the State Forest Administration (SFA), which is responsible for forestry work and answers directly to the State Council.

GTZ IS in China endeavours to identify best practices, train people and develop local capacities on a provincial as well as a national level.
