Forest policy and sustainable forest management

Combating Desertification
Drylands cover around 40 per cent of the Earth's land surface. Through its measures to combat desertification, GTZ opens up new options fort the inhabitants of drylands. We help partner countries that have signed the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification to use it as a strategic framework for resource management and sustainable development.

Biological diversity
Conserving the diversity of ecosystems, genes, and plant and animal species is one of the major challenges worldwide. We help our partner countries implement the objectives of the Convention on Biological Diversity. To this end sustainable strategies for the conservation of biodiversity must be developed, which promote economic development without endangering biological diversity.
