The Global Compact was well received in Germany right from the beginning, and the number of German members is steadily growing.

The German Global Compact Network is coordinated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) and in close collaboration with the German Federal Foreign Office (AA).

The network is an unique and active dialogue and learning forum in Germany with regular network meetings.

Moreover the German Global Compact network:

• hosted the Global Compact Learning Forum 2002 where companies provided meaningful input through case studies,
• held policy dialogues and several other national learning events, e.g. on “Business and Human Rights” and
• supports the Global Compacts outreach through publishing of several publications in German (e.g. Global Compact Flyer and Practical Guide for a Communication on Progress).

Additionally companies strengthen the partnership idea through public private partnerships with the GTZ.
