Projects
GIZ's development partnerships now span the entire globe: from Mexico City to Manila, from St. Petersburg to Pretoria. Since the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) created the PPP programme in 1999, GIZ (former GTZ) alone has implemented over 800 joint projects with private companies (status: November 2008). In the process, over EUR 300 million went to developing and emerging countries. The following pages show some examples of cooperation between GIZ and the private sector in practice, arranged by region. The multiregional, strategically-oriented partnerships are a special case. These are entered into with market leaders, groups of companies or industry associations. Projects like these are multinational, affect entire sectors, and also involve NGOs and other – frequently local – actors. We also regularly highlight successful projects in our develoPPP.report. To subscribe to the develoPPP.report free of charge, just send an email to the Center for Cooperation with the Private Sector. PPP-Reports
