Within the develoPPP.de programme, GIZ invites interested private sector companies several times a year to submit project proposals for development partnerships in partner countries of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The proposals are examined according to established criteria that can be found in the participation documents.

These ideas competitions take two complementary forms. Firstly, there are competitions with sector-specific themes taken from important activity areas that are closely connected with the priority areas of German development policy. New themes are chosen at regular intervals.

Secondly, the private sector is invited to contribute its own ideas in open innovation competitions, independently of the programme’s current priority themes. GIZ uses these competitions to keep its finger on the pulse of the business world, and also to carry out promising measures together with private companies in fields that are not yet targeted by the develoPPP.de agenda.
