German Public Sector ClientsAs a federally-owned enterprise mandated to perform international cooperation for sustainable development, GTZ supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives. This means that any of Germany's federal ministries, their subordinate agencies or the governments of the federal states can commission GTZ. We have been implementing projects and programmes worldwide in a wide variety of areas for many years. We do so primarily on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, but also on behalf of other public sector clients such as the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety, the Federal Ministry of Defence and the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. GTZ offers its international cooperation services to these additional federal ministries and other public institutions through its Office for German Public Sector Clients, in Berlin. On behalf of these commissioning parties, we design individual measures, (pilot) projects and comprehensive programmes that are tailored to their needs and geared towards sustainable development. We implement these all around the world. We can also advise our clients directly on a wide range of issues and provide personnel to build the capacities of ministerial administrations (mandataries). The Office has access to GTZ's long-standing experience and expertise in designing and managing complex programmes, and also to a comprehensive national and international network. Using additional international funds, our commissioning parties can also expand the sphere of influence of their activities. We can provide comprehensive advice and support to German public sector clients in this context, particularly as regards acquiring funds at the European level (EU grants, twinning).
