On 1 January 2010 Christoph Beier will take up his position as new Managing Director of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH, joining Bernd Eisenblätter and Hans-Joachim Preuß at the helm of the company.

Dr Beier has worked for GTZ in a variety of capacities, including as government advisor in Indonesia. He has been a member of the Committee of Executives since 2000, initially as Director General of the Planning and Development Department. In 2003, he took over responsibility for the Mediterranean Region, Europe, Central Asian Countries Department and was appointed Director General of the Asia/Pacific, Latin America/Caribbean Department in 2007.
